Yeah you are gonna catch heat bro but all in good fun....are u nuts pig was the dead before he left us. When I first stared cranking the dead well when my older brother turned me on I should say, that was who I first heard. It was a pigpen tune. He had that blue voice and I mean blue! It was almost like bringing you to church were all your friends would attend.
Bobby... IMHO wrecked pigs songs except good lovin'. He ( Bobby ) has that stutter in some songs almost like he's talking and not singing. He stared that in the 90's ahh don't care for that much.

imagine Pigpen singing Estimated Prophet...i wonder where the Dead would have ended, in a musical sense, had Pig lived on into the 90's. OK, don't imagine it -lol

yeah, what the hell was up with Bobby during the 90's with "talking" half the lyrics. I am no fan of that either. Did he have a voice problem?? or was he striving to emulate William Shatner's singing prowess.

Don't know the extent but in 1993 Weir did have vocal surgery. if you listen to the Vegas gigs in the spring of this year you'll hear his voice completely shot.

I love weir, but his rendition of standing on the moon with ratdog is the worst thing I have ever heard. That is a perfect example of his "shatner-style" delivery

exactly!!!!! i dont really like the song anyways, but weir's versions are downright painful.
He was doing it a lot in the latest the Dead tour - though i can't quite put my finger on which songs - shows were a blur at times - :)
Just a terrible way to "sing" - at least James Tiberius Kirk was funny

help on the way and bird song come to mind. The problem with the new "dead" for me was the constant lineup change. When they let go Barraco and weir started singing jerry's tunes it was over for me.

Concur. I'd rather see weir do old bobby and the midnights and solo stuff along with HIS dead tunes with ratdog. There is no need for him to do Friend of the devil. That's bathroom break time.

yeah I know but you can sing still you, know he still does with ratdog. He doesn't have too give the rock star voice thing. I still love him though fall tour starts in a week or so.
